Our “My Home: The American Dream” contest is an annual essay contest where local students are invited to write about what makes their house a home. Some entries are funny, some evoke tears, and some will leave you speechless with the insight beyond their years. Every year throughout the month of October, I work relentlessly to transform my home into the spookiest spot on the block. I string rubber bats to the porch, cover my front door in spider webs, and strategically hide fake rats around in hope that my friends or family might jump and scream just a little because it’s dark or they weren’t paying enough attention (or they had that 3rd glass of wine). This year Coldwell Banker Heritage is celebrating 50 wonderful years as a company. A few weeks ago, everyone gathered at Polen Farms to enjoy amazing music, fun conversation and delicious food. Gem, from the Dayton Dragons, also made an appearance being her ever so sassy self. She got the kids dancing and energized the crowd! The bounce house was filled with laughter of all ages, even the adults were joining in. The photo booth was full of fun hats and gadgets to make the evening more memorable.
